Where to shoot a rabbit.....

Question

I know if i shoot it in the head it will be a direct kill, but if i want to brain tan the pelt than i don't want to shoot it in the head. Where is the best spot i can shoot a rabbit with a .22 long rifle that is not in the head and still keep most of the meat?

If you take out the lungs or heart it will die within seconds, but it may run down a hole before you get it. You aiming point would be low on the body just before or after the leg. I would get some shorts or CB caps and shoot it in the head. There will be only one hole in and none out if you do it from an appropriate distance.
