Question:

Where to sit at lunch at school?

Whether it's college, mid-or-high school, it's always been really awkward 4 me, at least! What do you do to combat this awkwardness? I call up my friends and hope we get the same lunch period--if we don't, then I move on to my acquaintances, people I can tolerate, etc. ;)

Do you have any embarassing stories or lunch tips? Once I couldn't find my friends so I had to sit next to this guy who talked through his food and acted like they were animals or something (this wasn't elementary school, mind you!)

  1. well i dont get my schedule til the first day of school which sucks so ill prob be texting my friends the sec i get it to see if we're at the same lunch or not (hehe bad i know :)

last year which was my freshman year i got an awesome lunch table with all my friends its prob the best lunch period ive ever had

my bad incident was 6th grade the first day of middle school all the seats were taken so i had to sit w/ 2 girls i didnt know at all they just like stared at me the whole time it was awkward

  2. I used to be really shy in school. Now that I am older I have more confidence. If you do not know anyone at lunch just look around for some friendly looking people. Ask if you can sit w/ them. You might make some new friends.

  3. yeah i have sat down by this guy who i thought was someone else and had like this whole conversation with him until he took off his sun glasses and asked me who the heck i was! yeah it was weird! haha

    high school freshman year.  =]

  4. 1. Don't sit by yourself. Some people try to pull the pity trick, and it makes you look really pathetic, especially if you agree to sit with some total stranger, who asks you to sit with them on their behalf.

    2. If you're sitting with some new people, don't offer to share everything in your lunch with them. It makes you look too over-eager to be friends with strangers.

    3. Don't ask complete strangers for their food, if they didn't eat some part of their lunch. It's a big no-no to look like the big fatso on the first day of school.

    * Some other tips for lunch should be self-explanatory.

    Here's an embarrassing story:

    *This took place in Preschool.

My preschool class was celebrating Mexican Heritage Day, so we were having an "official" Mexican food lunch. We all got these soft tacos, but I had this mad obession with them at the time, so when my teacher is going on about the contribution of Mexican heritage to the world, I became the big preschool dork and scarfed that taco down like there was no tomorrow. I ended up eating it too fast, then I threw up. I was really embarrassed, and ended up hiding under a table for the rest of the day.

  5. ok, if you're looking for people to sit with, scan the cafeteria and pretend to be fiddling with your drink or a napkin or something until you see where you can sit.

    stalling, basically.

  6. i'm in high school and sometimes i don't eat cause sometimes me and my friends go to this teachers classroom and play an online computer game called 'unreal tournament' and he let's us, it's fun

  7. Omg, in my elementary school, we had these tables, and when you got yoru food, you sat at the seat they told you too.  it's hard explain, but they filled up one table, then another and another, and you couldn't sit by your friends, stand in line by your friends, or save seats, so I had to sit by this grouof guys once, and they started flinging apple sauce everywhere!! It got all over me and I was so mad.  I loathe that school because of all the lies and c**p they fed us (yeah right, words'll never hurt me?).  But, thats not what you were askign.

Um, other stories..... in highschool someone hit me with an apple core when they were throwing it across the lunch room, lol.

And in middle school someone dumped chocolate milk down my friend's shirt(by accident).  Thank goodness the nurse liked us.  All 4 of us went to her office, and waited for her to change.

I don't really have tips, just have fun, and talk to people.

  8. I always eat in a corner with my friends on the second floor.

    Funny story:

Once in sixth grade, the teacher made this boy sit at my table ((all girls)) because he had gotten in trouble.  Anyway, he thew a baby carrot at the wall and it stuck there.  Just goes to show you how crappy our hot lunches were.
