Where to start community service?

I'm still in highschool in the Bay Area. I was wondering where to start doing community service work and how the service sheet works. I don't want to join a club because i just don't want to. I am looking to volunteer two hours each day. I have not done community service before and i do not know where to begin. Thanks!

  1. Call your local United Way and ask them about volunteer opportunities.  Often they can match you up to something with a series of simple questions, finding the best fit for you and the people you will be helping.

  2. There are Community Development Centers in the Bay Area.

These groups work to develop your community by helping do

    any,all,or more than these.Develop low cost housing,develop

economic opportunity, develop neighborhood leadership, develop partnerships with other groups,non-profits

,or agencies to help your community.

You can find out about community development centers, aka

CDCs by googleing Bay Area CDCs or contacting a group

called NeighborWorks America via your computer.

These groups ALWAYS need volunteer help because as

non-profits they NEVER have enough money. You could find

a career for yourself if you're lucky.Good luck and thanks

    for volunteering!
