  1. I just stayed in the Hotel Isabel which is close to the Zocalo.  It's within walking distance of a ton of things and in $32 a night for a double room with a bathroom.  They have better deals if you don't need your own bathroom.  It's super cute---but the beds are rock hard.  It's much quieter than the youth Hostels in the area, but if you like party places the hostels are perfect.  The staff is super nice and helpful.

  2. There is a great little B&B just one block from the American Embassy called Casa Gonzales.  Owner speaks English, prices are vey low.  I have had many friends who stayed there and loved it.  See website below.

  3. depends of where you want go, in the downtown is many places hostals is the cheap places  if you want expend  around 35 to 50 per night  you can go to Tlalpan and is good motels for this price located to the exit to Cuernavaca and is very closer to Cuicuilco pyramid some of the oldest in america and closer of perisur mall, six flags , coyoacan and xochimilco.... maybe this can be a good choice if you can expend around of 100 per night in front of Perisur mall is very good hotels...another is in particular homes I know to some people that have  large homes and have bedrooms for rent around 30 to 50 us per night with meals...so they can show you the city fore low fares  .

  4. You can also try:

    Hotel Bristol

    Plaza Necaxca No. 17

    Col Cuauhtemoc

    +52 (55) 5207-8935

They are a centric small hotel.  Serves mainly business, but has fair amount of tourist coming there.  They are close to American Embassy and have plenty information about tours and places of interest.  You could easily take a taxi or public transport from there to Coayacan.

  5. Not sure how much you want to spend.

    try this place.
