My partner and I want to drop out of the country and go to India for two - three months at the end of the year. Where would be a good place to stay. Doesnt need to be flash at all, real basic and cheap will be fine, just need somewhere as a base point while we travel around. How much does it cost to live in India for that long, how much AUD$ would you recommend taking over?

  1. Stay in Delhi.

    Paharganj is the tourist hub.

    Travel to Nainital, Lucknow, Varanasi,

    Agra, Jaipur

    Ajmer, Pushkar

    Dharamshala

    Khajuraho

All are easily accessible from Delhi

Travel on Shatabdi Express trains that go to Dehradun, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Ajmer, Bhopal etc

  2. How about trying Kerala?...its a wonderful place, the place is known for having lush greenery everywhere. I am not sure about the pricing you may have to check some travel site...

  3. It is a vast country with all kind of terrain and climate, Ice to desert, rainfall to drought Basic and cheap I prescribe Kerala it is not centrally located but you can connect to all places by rail and air. In Kochi the port city of kerala you can get a 2 star room in the cost of 10 us dollar per day. Rail travel is one of the cheapest in the world if you advance reserve your ticket. say kochi to Delhi(northest city) will be less than $10 per person 2nd class. (feel free to email for more details).
