I want to be near a beach, but also part of a city/community. Both would be ideal - can I get both? Not interested in a huge city. I am seeking a young educated and professional environment. I run my business from home, and would love an environment that fulfills my socials needs...I do not speak Spanish (yet). I would like to rent/sublet a place for a month to determine if I should stay longer...

  2. It all depends on what season you want to be in Mexico, there are beautiful beaches from Baja California to Cancun; What weather are you looking for? Does it matter if the water is cold or hot?

Ensenada, Baja California is some of the best parts to spend some time in summer, while there are other places like Los Cabos in Baja California Sur where is better to be there from November to May or might be Cancun or Mazatlan in Sinaloa, or Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco.

Just let me know what you are looking for and I'll try to answer your question.

  3. Acapulco

  4. Probably the 'young educated and professional environment' will be the most difficult to find.  I was in Mexico in the state of Veracruz, but I was inland at Cordoba (5 1/2 hours south of Mexico City) and I rented a self-contained 'cabin' for $200 a month.  It was owned by American University Professors, who taught at a private University.  Most of the students there were from very wealthy Mexican families, who basically pay for their kid to get a degree.  The only thing they wanted them to come away with was the ability to speak English.  It is highly valued in Mexico.  This location would be approx. 45 minutes from the beaches of Veracruz.  The other place I stayed in was at Bahia de Kino, which is small town 45 minutes from Hermosillo in the state of Sonora.  It is right on the water.  Very poor town.  Hermosillo however has a population of about 650,000 and its close.

  5. Playa de Carmen or any of the surrounding towns. You'll be about 1 hour from Cancun. I have met several people, professionals that spend summers/winters or have moved there. Puerto Morelos, about 15mins away host several longterm tourist, Mostly American. Progresso is a nice place also. It's about 45 mins from Merida Yucatan. Many Canadians own homes there. I enjoy Progresso because it's small, not a crazy tourist town and the beach is is great. Plus, Merida is a beautiful historical town.

  6. Somewhere in Riviera Maya...its so pretty.  Playa del Carmen?

  7. Pachuca Hidalgo is a beautiful small city, who have everything that you need, also is close to Mexico City, one of the biggest cities in the world, in mexico city you can find everything, beleive everything also that thing that you are thinking right now. and its about and hour to Pachuca, Acapulco and Veracruz are about 4 hours to Pachuca, and these are beautiful beaches. You can find everything.

    Best Wishes from Mexico.

  8. Check out Sayulita (just 30 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta airport).  click the link below.
