Question:

Where to stay in Montreal, Canada?

My husband and I want to spend the night in Montreal for our first anniversary and we are wondering where to stay, go to dinner, music venues (blues, jazz, rock). We live in Vermont so it's just a one night trip and we're trying to not spend too much money as we have a baby on the way. Thanks for any help you can give.

  1. I think that Le Saint Sulpice, Montreal is one of the best. you can see more on:

  2. If you are interested in blues and jazz, now is the time to come to Montreal. The Jazzfest is just starting (end of June, early July) and there are some outdoor concerts as well as many venues for different shows.

Even if you can't get here during that time, we have several jazz clubs that may interest you, including Upstairs and Biddles to name a couple I have been to.

As for hotels, most of the downtown hotels will be quite expensive...over $150 per night. You can get a basic room at the Best Western, Days Inn, or Holiday inn and it will be clean and you won't pay too much. You can also stay at one of the motels along St. Jacques Street in NDG area, but I can't tell you what conditions you will find.

The Motel Le Chablis St. Jacques looks inexpensive, clean and respectable, and the Picasso's Restaurant across the street serves great breakfasts all day long. You would be 15 minute drive from downtown, or public transit is right in front (Bus #90 connects to Vendome Metro subway which can get you downtown.

  3. first of all congratulations.

secondly try hotels.ca or expedia.ca I find they have the best prices (for some nice hotels).  Oh and If the pictures look clean and safe (in montreal) it usually is.

    Good luck!

p.s. smaller bed and breakfasts might be something to look into as well.

Try Canada411.com and searcxh the montreal yellow pages for bed and breakfast and start calling:D
