Ok so i am coming with a friend to Paris for a weekend soon.

I am wanting to find a club on saturday night that will not let me down! I'm in to everything from r'n'b to indie, not so much house music.. If anyone has any great recommendations i would love to hear.

Also.. Hotel info!

I have a few choises of hotel to stay in, my first choice is a hotel right next to gare du nord station, as it's near to the eurostar but is it a wise location to be? Will it take a long time to get to where all the action is? How far is it from the eiffel tower?

I would ideally like a hotel in the younger area of paris with the good bars (i hear bastille is a good area?) or somewhere with a good view, such as the eiffel tower area..

My options are hotels in these areas (metro station):

Gare du nord

Ternes

Grands Boulevards

St Lazare

Cadet

Jacques Bonsergent

& Bibliotheque

what would you recommend?? Any info would be great, thanks!

  1. In terms of entertainment, perhaps someplace like Georges Cafe at 4, rue de la Huchette (5th) is what you are looking for:

    Then there's the Pub Saint-Michel at 19, quai Saint-Michel

The Rex Club at 5, bd Poissonniere in the 9th arr. Techno & hard house. Here's their website: http://www.rexclub.com/rex.html

La Scala at 188 bis rue de Rivoli in the 1st is gigantic. Its website states their music is "Funky to Happy Dance, from Deep House to R&B and New Jack" Check it out yourself: http://www.lascalaparis.com/lascala-engl...

The Lizard Lounge at 18 rue du Bourg-Tibourg in the 4th. has a DJ in the basement spining records until the sun comes up.

    A few more suggestions are

    Le Baron

    6 avenue Marceau, 8th

    Le Paris Paris

    5 avenue de l'Opéra, 1st arr.

    Le Truskel

    12 rue Feydeau, 2nd arr.

    Planète Mars

    21 rue Keller, 11th arr.

    Shebeen

16 rue du Pot de Fer, 5th

    Le Bottle Shop

    5 rue Trousseau, 11th

There is nothing really bad about the area of the Gare du Nord although its not a neighborhood to hang out in. But Paris is a fairly compact city and public transportation is excellant so there's not much reason to be concerned that any where in the city center is too far from any other part.  So from the Gare du Nord to the Eiffel Tower is about a 30 minute trip and from Gare du Nord to Notre Dame is about 6 minutes.

I personally try to stay someplace very close to the places I'll be partying since I always anticipate that I will be somewhat unsteady after a typically long night of drinking and want to be able to walk home.
