  1. It depends on your budget: for instance, accommodation next to the Termini railway station is cheap and central, but the place itself is ugly and dangerous (immigrants, thieves, gipsies and so on); if you have a higher budget you can opt for the historical center (Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, Pantheon), but be prepared to sell your car for a three night stay. A nice alternative is Trastevere, 20 minutes walking distance to the monuments, which is also famous for its restaurants and clubs.

  2. I would suggest the best place to stay in rome would be Nomentano, which is just north of the center but is still downtown. It has the most interesting tourist attractions, and although it is quite a way from the airport it is worth going to. Just south of Nomentano is it`s neighbouring borough Tiburtino which is totally packed with attractions, but it`s hotels are not as good as those within Nomentano. Good luck, and enjoy your holiday!

  3. The Hotel Felice in Rome is a good hotel, clean and comfortable. Close to the Termini area.

A lot of your are available in the reception.

  4. The Hotel  Napoleon on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele is wonderful, stayed there last year and there was no question of us not using it again!  Very friendly, very clean, nothing too much trouble! It's on the Esquiline, handy for Termini and Centro Storico. I know I've plugged this elsewhere, but what the h**l...http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel...

No, I don't work for them, I just love them to bits.... As has already been said, enjoy your stay wherever it is. Rome is a wonderful place, you'll never forget your visit.

  5. depending on your budget, go to google and type in

    La Residenza

It's pretty central, walking distance to Spanish Steps, and center of city. Easy access to train stations

  6. It really does depend on your budget. The best place I've stayed in was called the Aleph Boscolo (part of the Boscolo group of hotels). It's a boutique hotel, very centrally located and is AMAZING. The service was very good. The Millennium Hotel, Roma, is also great (marble bathroom, power shower and a bed that has enough space for fifteen!) and better on the budget side of things. Both  hotels are centrally located. Alternatively (and I've not stayed in this one) but the Radisson Hotel, Rome is very good and is located near the main station (Termini Station) so it is central and has excellent transport links. Most of the tours usually meet at Termini Station so from a convenience point of view, it is great.

Shop around for a good price though and try to make sure that breakfast is thrown in otherwise you'll either be paying the standard hotel price for breakfast or be running around different cafes every morning for food.

Whatever you decide upon, Rome is an amazing city. Have fun!

  7. I recommend the campo di fiori.  It is were I saw the most local life.  I also recommend taking one of those double decker buses the first day.  It takes you all around the city and will give you a better idea of were everything is located.  The good thing about rome is that the attractions are close by each other.  I walked almost everywhere when I went.

I also recommend staying at a bed and breakfast, it is a better deal for your money.
