Question:

Where to stay while job searching...?

I'm leaving for Dublin next wednesday, and just wanted to ask for any advice, suggestions, web links on where to stay whilst I look for work. I was planning on doing the hostel thing, but that can get expensive too if I can't find work quickly. What would be the best way?

  1. You'll find hundreds of places to rent in the Evening Herald newspaper. You're looking at about 400 euros per month. Accomadation in the city is pricey. The Rathmine area is pretty nice. Look on DAFT.ie or www.myhome2let.ie..........you should get something there.

  2. look at hostels that charge a weekly rate vs nightly- you can often get a cheaper rate this way. this may be harder in the summer as it is tourist season, but more cost effective. i did that when i moved to ireland and london, and ended up saving money by paying for a week or so upfront.

i have pasted the link to my favorite hostel in dublin.. a really centrally located place i highly recommend for those first few days, while getting acclimated to the city.

they will probably also give you pointers.

i would look for jobs and work concurrently- but remember to make some attempt to find them close together. that said, when looking for a hostel to stay in, i would say it is better to spend a little more money to be centrally located than out in drumcondra or somewhere- if you need to go to a job interview at short notice in the city, you want to be able to get there easily (and iwthout spending hours lost on the bus or luas)
