Question:

Where to take a FALAN test in Boston

Does anyone know where I could take a Farnswork lantern test in Boston ?

I already check the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and a few other ophthalmologists but they don't provide with such a test

I need to take that specific test to prove to the FAA that I can see the difference between green red and white.

  1. If for flying, ask your local flight school which doctor does FAA medicals.

  2. Have you checked with the New England College of Optometry's clinic? (I think it's the New England Eye Institute.) They're in Boston. As a teaching institution, they're pretty likely to have a number of random tests kicking around, potentially a Farnsworth. I'd give them a shout and see if they do specialized testing for colour vision, or if they know who does. (Mention that it's for the FAA; they may have an equivalency or another name for it or something.)

I will say though, it's not a common test to find, so it'd be pretty rare to find a optometrist or ophthalmologist who has one. Any chance you could ask some local aviation folk where they did theirs?
