Question:

Where to take my mom to lunch off Times Square?

I live in New York and work in Times Square, so I don't want to do any of the touristy stuff, but my mom is coming to visit the city and has tickets to a play, so I want to stay close to work and close to her theater, but I don't know of a good, simple, healthy restaurant there. I'm really looking for somewhere quick, but sit down, with vegetarian choices and little-if-any fried or heavy options (I'm a vegetarian, my mom just likes to eat healthy and is kind of picky about it). You'd think I'd know where to go since I'm here everyday, but I usually try to avoid spending any extra time in midtown, so I really have no idea. In the past, I've taken her to a Pain Quotidien which went over well, just for reference of the type of place I'm looking for. Thanks for any suggestions anyone can make!

  1. New York City is very veg-friendly so you should have no problems.  If you want something fancy, take her to Candle Cafe or Candle 79.  Also check out the list of vegetarian and veg-friendly restaurants on VegDining.com.  Here's the link for New York:
