Question:

Where to take the dog when we leave town??

We have a small dog, and we are going out of town for a few days. The last time we left town, our dog pooped all over the sitter's house, so he won't do it again. (He is a very bad dog! I actually hate him)

Anyway, nobody will watch the dog because he's so bad (not housebroke!!!) So, can we take him to the shelter for a couple days?? How much does it cost??

  1. Your dog isn't bad you haven't trained him.  Look in the yellow pages for a boarding kennel and petsmart boards dogs.

  2. Why do you have a dog if you hate him so much? Have you tried training - *gasp* - him? If you devote enough time to your dog he will be able to do anything. I devoted enough time (including after midnight) to my dog and now she is housebroken. If you don't love your dog you should give it away to someone who does.

You could try your vets. Most of them will board your dog for you but I don't know for how much. It shouldn't be that much since it is only for a couple of days.

  3. Try your vet's office, most will board a pet and have reasonable rates. Good luck,

  4. I echo the responses which advise you to train it.

Barring that effort, perhaps the best option for you both is to pay in advance for the couple days boarding and ask them to see if they can find a new home for him while you are gone. That way, you don't have to come home to this dog you 'hate' and he doesn't have to go home to a place he is hated. Best for both of you.

  5. check out yelp.com for your area.  they may give you an idea of the place before you take your dog there.

also here are some other places to check out:

    local groomer

    vet place

    petsmart hotel

  6. How about a kennel?  Or maybe you could have someone stay at your house with him while you're gone?

Maybe your vet has kennel service and you could send him there.

  7. Why do you own a dog you hate? What's the point of putting the dog in distress and yourself annoyed? Also, dogs that are not housebroken are not bad, they're just not trained and it's the owner's responsibility to train.

There are dog kennels and some vet clinics have boarding... best I've heard was $20 a night at a reputable clinic with vets available in case, 3 walks of 30minutes each... You just have to go through yellowpages and find some and call around.

The only problem with kennels is that usually there's more than one dog and they all socialize so if one gets sick, they all get sick.

    Good luck.

  8. shelters aren't pet hotels- take him there and you won't get him back.  you can board him at a pet hotel or vet clinic

  9. Take him to the Dog Kennel's.  You would have to call about the charge as each place is different.

  10. Your dog isn't bad, you haven't taken the time to train him.  I don't understand why people have dogs and don't take the time for them.

The boarding, call your vet or check on-line to see who around you boards.  I would suggest your vet, because they usually have a vet there 24 hours with them.

  11. You can actually take him to (just about) any vet hospital and they will provide boarding services.  They feed, walk, and play with your dog while you are away.

My husband and I have had to do this a few times with our puppies and it cost us $10 a day/per dog.

    Good luck!
