Where to throw out Hazardous Waste Disposal?

Question

I just watched the news on tv and learn that certain house hold items can not be throw along with other trash.

So I am curious where do you take the energy saving bulb, batteries and other items to.

Two locations I like to find out, NYC and South Florida.

How do you hand over the item? Bag them? Walk in just with it or?

Put them in a special bag called a garbage bag and put it on the curb.  The funny thing is, the garbage man doesn't look through what you put out there.

this is an easy one,

call the cities waste management office and tell them your sitch.

look online under the local goverment page

I live in California so we see TV ads that offer to pick up hazardous waste such as household cleaners

also wALMART HAS A kiosk in their store for old batteries and the like

Check your local city or county website.  Mine has two locations within the county where I can take my items.  I pull up and they take the box from my trunk.  The place is so busy they found this to be best.
