Question:

Where to travel in Europe (not the usual)?

I'm in college and have visited Europe a few times in the past years and have been to most of the touristy hot spots. I'll be heading back in the end of September to go to Oktoberfest and am thinking of other places to go to.

I've already been to Spain, France, Italy, England, Netherlands, Germany, Prague, Budapest, Croatia, Austria, Switzerland to name a few and that really doesn't leave me with any easy options.

I'll be getting a 15 day unlimited travel Eurail pass but don't want to be stuck on a train to whole time. Also, I am using airline miles to get there, so I'm open to places to fly into. Places I'm definitely going to are Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome, Munich. But besides that it's up in the air. I was thinking about going to Scandinavia (any places I NEED to check out there?). I also want to go to Greece, but it seems like it would take a while to get to; same with Bulgaria or Romania.

So any input on places to go to would be great, maybe a quick itinerary? Thanks

  1. Come to Scotland, land of history, legends, great social scene, friendly natives and beautiful unspoilt scenery .

  2. check Ohrid, amazing place, the pearl on the Balkans

    great night life,

    many beaches,

    cheap prices,

    hospitable people,

many foreign tourists (Dutch, Serbians, Israelis, Chinese among others),

    delicious traditional food.

so many cultural and historic sites (365 churches, one for every day of the year, middle age fortress, place where one of the first European universities was established)...

there's also the traditional Gradiste Summer Beach Festival (the best DJs in one place), one of the best in the region and Lenny Kravitz is coming in Ohrid in August...

  3. Serbia they speak the same language as in Croatia it bueatiful there

  4. Northern Ireland was beautiful. Bulgaria had great musicians.

Why not just take a boat over to Turkey? It's the BEST.

    Don't forget Edinborough Scotland

  5. I would say Romania and Ukraine!

  6. I suggest going to Norway, it is gorgeous!

My favorite city was Bergen, there were many authentic shops, fish markets, etc. to check out!

  7. Since you'll be in Munich, you can go to Poland - from what you've wrote, you haven't been there.

The city I was born in - Wroclaw - happens to be the closest to Munich and is one of the most beautiful cities in Poland now. And from Wroclaw you can travel to Cracow (Krakow) another amazing Polish city. Close to Krakow you can see the concentration camp (Oswiecim) if you like history and won't mind getting depressed for a day. Another thing right outside of Krakow is the Wieliczka Salt Mines - a museum which will blow your mind.

  8. Have you tried Portugal?

  9. Since you've been in Croatia already, why not to try the neighbouring country Slovenia as well? I spent a fabulous week there in Portoroz last summer, visited also Ljubljana and Bled areas and permanently lost part of my heart to that country! And I can guarantee that it's not yet too badly crowded by tourists, so it's great to spend time there indeed!

  10. You have already  been to almost all of Europe.

Maybe you go to Southeast this time beginning with Bulgaria Romania Greece and finally Turkey.

You really should see Istanbul. It is much more different than most of the European Cities. You wont regret it.

Have a nice trip, lots of fun
