Where to value a piece of pottery?

pottery vase with s.w.silver&co stamped on it in blue/white pattern had some info on origin( thanx) but need more detailed info and is it worth anything dont want to go through dealers as they rip you off any help appreciated.....thx larry

Go to an auction house and ask for an insurance valuation, they won't rip you off as they only gain by it selling at a high price. Reputable dealers won't rip you off in any case, their own reputaion would be in danger, it's the cowboy dealers that are the problem.
