  1. the eiffel tower restuarant

  2. I was in Rome last month.. It is a great historical city..that is all

People are so rude .. no rule, no respect, no service, nothing ...

    Just one of my experience...

A taxi driver tried to charge us 126 euros for 12km distance. He kept driving around..

After a long discussion with him, and talking to the hotel receptionist, we gave him 80 euros.. He took the 80 euros, and placed 50 euros to his pocket at one point, while he was still asking more..then told us that we only paid him $30 euros..We told him that we saw him while he was placing the 50 euros to his right pocket.. he said "no no no "....he was checking his little money bag and showing us that he did not get 80 euros, etc etc.. we asked him to check his right pocket.. in one point while he had 80 in his hand with his other money.. I garbed the 80 euros back and told him that I was going to call a cop... After a long discussion around 1:30am.. we paid him 80 and he left...

We arrive to an airport where looks like an airport from a third world country....

I also visited Barcelona where I like the most in my trip...

    Thanks

    Troy

  4. i'm italian...i live in triest but i was in rome.all italy it's fantastic.....spaghetti end pizza it's very very good!!!the boys are nice and the atmosphare it's magis!!!!!baci dall'italia

  5. They are among the rudest people i have ever had the misfortune of encountering.

  6. Take the open top bus tour and make sure you visit the colloseum its fantastic.

I found the food in Rome really poor - it came as such a suprise. I thought there would be scores of yummy italian restaurants. They scrimp on meat and the only vegetables they serve are tomatoes and spinich.

Our best meal was ironically in the hard Rock Cafe.

  7. wow rome is amazing, there are so many great things to do

visit the collaseum we had a tour there and its very interesting

there was this icecream place with 102 flavours!!! biggest icecream i have ever eaten, couldnt even finish it, it costs 2 Euros for some massive icecream...  yeah go there

  8. i do not remember the name of this restaurant, it is (funnily enough, italian)

go to the colloseum early evening and eat across the road from it at night, have some wine, some pasta and some banter with the italian waitors, who were very welcoming. The view of the colloseum at night is outstanding.

    have an amazing time!

  9. Please, you must visit the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri (Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs).  It is across from the Termini in Rome.  It was an ancient Roman bath house and that was converted into a Basilica when Christianity took over Rome.  On the outside its a plain brick building, but inside it is absolutely breathtaking.  Its gem that so few people stop and see.  I'm including a link that will tell you more about it.  I hope this helps.

  10. I've just come back from a weekend in Rome with boyf where we stayed with an Italian friend so we had the best tour!  It was really enjoyable with great weather and great sights.

Before we went we got the Frommers guide to Rome (Rome day by day) which was great!  It was £7.99 in WHSmith and all of the places below that I mention are in it.  Some of the places (food wise) we wanted to go to our Italian friend recommended too!  It also had a fantastic pull out map which we used lots as we walked everywhere to get the real feel of everything (note - take comfy shoes!) and our Italian friend said if cab drivers know you're a tourist they'll put up the prices of the taxis.

I'm not sure how you're getting to and from the airport in Rome but once you are there, they do a coach service (believe it's connected to Ryan air) which you can book and pick up from the train station for next to nothing - it was great and the ticket was flexible - think it cost €16 for the two of us on the way back to the airport!!

If you're there for three days it could get quite hectic as there is so much to see!  I would recommend ensuring you visit the following places:-

Colosseum - it costs €11 to enter and you can go on a guided tour for €22.  Personally I wouldn't recommend the guided tour as the ones being advertised were 90 minutes and I prefer to go at my own pace.  Also en route to the Colosseum (if you're walking down from the shops) on your left is a great tourist information place with information and books all about it and the rest of the history around Rome!  We found that the queues were massive at the Colosseum.  It shuts at about 7 p.m. and you have to be in there by 6 p.m. so we went back (this was on a weekday) at about 5.30 p.m. and walked straight in.

Near the tourist information place there is a glass elevator you can go in which shows you the whole of Rome, I didn't do this as I am petrified of heights.  However, our friend said it's really great so if you're not then it is probabaly worth a look!

The Trevi Fountain (which is also near the Spanish Steps) - really great atmosphere of an evening (people take drinks!) - and beautifully lit up.

St Peters - I am not religious but an experience - the work that must have gone into that is breathtaking.  In fact there are plenty of churches just en route to everywhere which you can go into and they're all beautiful.

Crypt of the Capuchin Monks - didn't get to go there because it was closed when we went but it's meant to be great - all monks bones arranged in a church.

The Forums - all the Roman ruins.

For food the one place we did go to which was really enjoyable and is a favourite with the Italians was Da Felice - tel +39 06 5745800.  There was another one we went to as well - I can't remember the name but it was a real traditional Italian restuarant in a square so I'll ask my friend the name of it and try and add to this information!

One tip I would give is all the time we were with our Italian friends the coffee houses and refreshments seemed reasonably priced.  As soon as it got to Monday and they went back to work and we were two tourists the prices really rocked up!  I would recommend asking for a full price list before you order anything (there was a habit of ''we have this on the menu, this on the menu") and if they won't give it to you I'd go elsewhere!

Also - watch out for pushy street artists!  One in particular used to give me the heebies (not far from Trevi) as he used to try to shake your hand and wouldn't let it go that easy!

Rome is such a great place to wander around as there are lots of great buildings and you can have a general wander and find yourself in a great square or something.

I don't know if you know Italian - but here's a good little website for phrases - http://www.speakitalian.co.uk/
