Where to visit while in Rio de janeiro?

Me and a few of my buddys are taking a trip to Rio in August, any suggestions on where to visit or what to do?

Been twice there! I love it and would go another time. Do the normal tour which is Christ the Redeemer and the sugar loaf (do both and actually you'll see that the best view is from the sugar loaf). Then go to Petropolis which is a beautiful city where the last Emperor of Brazil (Dom Pedro II) had his palace (yes, Brazil had emperors coming from Portugal).

Then dont ignore places like Buzios and Angro Dos Reis and if you can go, go to the Museum of Modern Art in Niteroi.

Stay in Ipanema, dont stay in Copacabana. In Copacabana visit the hotel Copacabana Palace.

In Ipanema there are wonderful hotels, I recommend Praia Ipanema or Best Western Sol Ipanema and if your budget is more generous stay at Ceasar Park Ipanema. In Ipanema just walk around the streets and you'll find excellent restaurants and pubs where to eat and have a good time. Just walk and see where's the action, where the people are and have fun!

Eat at Porcaos, best bbq rodizio I;ve had in my life and whatever you do, drink plenty of Caipirinhas!!!!
