The thing on her collar is some sort of symbol or letter...definitely not a flag....

How are Republicans taking this news ?

Sarah Palins FLAG PIN was in her heart, speech and proven record of reform in Alaska.

She salutes the flag unlike the communist Obama that openly hates the USA.

It was in her speech. She never talked bad about America. She never degraded America. She had nothing but good things to say about America. Unlike her opponent who basically urinated on America's name while talking to that 7 year old girl.

It's called a Blue Service Star pin, related to the Blue Service flag or banner. Immediate family members of people who are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces are allowed to wear one. Her son Track is in the U.S. Army.

However, it should be noted that it is indeed not a U.S. flag pin, and if we're "going to go there," then she should have indeed been wearing a flag pin. Goose/Gander, etc., etc.
