as conor says, the first truck race was run in 1994 in mesa marin. it, however, was only one of four demonstration events held that year; it was not yet a full-blown series.  

the series was officially founded as the "supertruck series" in 1995. the first race of the series was the copper world 200 held at phoenix international raceway on february 5, 1995.
