  1. Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) had its genesis in the establishment of the Zoological Section of the Indian Museum at Calcutta in 1875.

    However even before that  GOVERNMENT MUSEUM  Founded in 1857, the museum is located within a spacious park and zoological garden.

    Largest zoological museum:

    Nehru Zoological Park - This zoo is among the largest in India, houses a large variety of animals, birds, nocturnal species, aquatic and amphibian species etc. Located close to this is the Mir Alam lake, which is proposed to be converted into an Aquarium along the lines of Sentosa, Singapore.
