Where was this in Chicago?

I just got a car, I live in South Loop, and though I've been living in Chicago since January, I haven't had much of a chance to really see all of the city because I've been working, but a little while ago I did and I don't know where I was or how the h**l I got there, but to make a long story short I got into this EXTREMELY Jewish part.

There were Jewish boys in full uniform - black slacks, white button ups, their yarmulke's on and stuff. There was even a baseball field and they were all playing baseball.

Does anyone know what part of town I was in? Like, the community area name? It's killing me.

  1. no

  2. Orthodox Jews live near their Synagogue, so that they can walk on the Sabbath, because driving would be work. So there is no one area they live in; they live near each other and their place of worship.

  3. At first I was going to suggest maybe Lincoln Park.. I have a Jewish friend from LA who came out to visit me (i'm from the suburbs) for a couple days this week.. and then went to visit some of her family in Lincoln Park... There are a lot of Jews there, but it's also a very young community....

But then I found something else after I did a search that seems to be the area you were in:  website this is from = http://www.crcweb.org/community/chicagoG...

"The Chicago Rabbinical Council welcomes all guests, conventioneers and tourists to Chicago. The Metropolitan Chicago Area has a population of more than 270,000 Jewish residents.

Jewish population centers include neighborhoods throughout the area, from Hyde Park on the South Side, the Lakeview area North of Downtown, Uptown, Peterson and West Rogers Park, Lincolnwood, Skokie, to Highland Park and Buffalo Grove for the North suburbs, and in many communities in between.

Also.. this has all different schools and stores (Jewish) and other things, so if any of those places look familiar, chances are thats the area you were in!! i'd say if you were downtown.. you were either in Hyde Park (if you were NOrth)  or Lakeview (if you were south)
