  1. i believe that carlton will finish in the top 8 this season... with juddy and murphy and young gibbs! they will be a tough team to beat!

  2. They wont make the eight, even with Judd. He's one player and not a team.

  3. about 13th

  4. It will be an interesting year.  The list is still very young and there is a glaring hole at CHF.

Everyone is talking Judd, Stevens, Carrazzo, Murphy but the absence of any form of ruckman is so important to the midfield in todays game.  Ackland is not the answer.

If Hanson can step up then Carlton can be considered a fringe to the top eight.  If Cloke can find the form he showed before his injury it will be a bonus.

Again variables are becoming so critical into days game.

But the nucleus is beginning to form and a rise such as North Melbourne and Geelong last year is not beyond the realms of possibilty.  The system is know geared towards that.

  5. I predict they will improve from last year and finish 14th ;)

  6. in the bottom 8

and will for the next 2 yrs

  7. id agree to that i wouldnt think they would make the eight this year even though they have Judd

  8. 9th place on the ladder

  9. a few new adjustments isn't going to turn a wooden spoon frequent into finals contender.

    Maybe lyk 10th or 11th.

  10. Im going to say 11th

  11. wooden spoon I hope,  One star doesn't make a good team

  12. 12 to 16 there is already way to much hype and reliance on Judd. If he breaks down again there will be Carlton supporters throwing themselves under trams. At this time I think they have put all their hopes on Judd playing well for the whole season something that is a bit unrealistic and bound for disappointment

  13. i hope that calrton come in z bottom 8 but i actuly think they might get into top 8 just!!!! as a essendon supporter i hope essendon couldo well without james !!!! carlton has a chance to win nab cup!!! no jokes

  14. The FACT is at the end of the footy season Carlton will finish somewhere between 1&16, unless of course a club or clubs leave the competition, and then that fact will change.     There is no doubt Carlton will improve.        By how much 'nobody' will know until the final siren in round 22.

  15. Well it is safe bet they will do better than last year but seriously I would say 9th.

  16. 9th- 12th. Judd wont solve all the problems...your dreaming carlton if you think judd will get you a premiership straight away

  17. i see 10-14, few more years yet.

  18. bottom 4

  19. well, form says they will aspire to recruit the top player in the league and to do that you have to finish last ....which they will do and recruit Andy McLeod who will self destruct like every other Carlton No 1 pick.

Get real AFL. stop this throwing games to get no 1 draft pick

  20. I'd love to say 1st but one superstar doesn't make a team. Carlton need to have a good look at how Geelong played last year and try to emulate their skills, toughness and teamwork. I'm saying 8th to 10th would be a good year. Go Blues!!!

  21. between 10th and 14th

  22. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they'll finish around 6th -10th. I'm a kangas fan and after a year of finishing 14th or something we were playing in a prelim. I'm basing my prediction more on the fact that they're young players will improve than the signing of chris judd.

  23. With Judd they are looking better but not good enough for the eight

  24. 9th

  25. Bottom eight. I think they're going to improve, but not nearly as much as some other people think.

Getting Judd, and the return of Stevens is going to make their midfield a lot more potent. It will also mean that Murphy and Gibbs aren't getting tagged to the same extent as they have been. However, Judd has had a pretty serious groin injury, that he would have aggravated further by playing injured. And several other players who've had the same injury have taken a year or more to get back to their pre-injury form.

Apart from the midfield, they still look pretty ordinary. They have a very weak ruck division, and I doubt Kruezer will be able to have an immediate impact at AFL level.

They have some talent in their forward line, but still tend to rely too heavily on Fevola when they're going forward, and their defense leaked like a sieve last year.

It will be interesting to see what Ratten does, and he pull a couple of rabbits out, but I think that they're going to have a year similar to the Bulldogs in 2007. A good midfield, but lacking the tall key position players to make the most it.

  26. last

  27. 12

  28. 10th

  29. Hmm... hard to say as we haven't seen them with all their newbies but i would say 11-16th. Juddy won't make all that much difference in my opinion.

  30. 10th to 14th.

  31. They will show a lot of improvement and possibly even be in the top 8 during the season.

I do believe though having a very young list and the holes they do have in key positions they will tire and through inexperience, eventhough there is some high profile players there, they will end up anywhere between 9th and 13th. But like any great footy season ahead of us though they could also shock the h**l out of us or really disappoint us.
