If you haven't already heard, his team has stopped running the no.40 car. Anyone any ideas where he will go? Will he leave NASCAR?

All ideas appreciated.

  1. Franchitti has no business being at the Cup level.  He should race the Nationwide series for at least two years, then if he improves, he should take a job in Cup.

Ganassi is the one to blame on this one.  His teams have not done anything since Marlin broke in neck

  2. I really think it would be in his best interest to not stay in Nascar.

He did not do very well this year (even before the broken ankle)  I think he would do best going back to open-wheel, though.

    Motorcycle racing?

  3. Hopefully back to Indy car with his other go cart buddies, they are dangerous!

  4. If I had to guess, I'd say he'll probably go to sports cars next year, either driving for Chip Ganassi in the Rolex Sports Car series or driving for Adrian Fernandez in the ALMS series.

He might stay in NASCAR, but given how rough it's been for him this year (as well as the sponsorship crisis), I doubt it.

I know for sure he won't return to Indy Car.  He's essentially stated that he's accomplished everything he can there (an Indy 500 win and a championship), and has got nothing more to prove.

  5. Hopefully Stay in nascar in the busch series and get experience I enjoy the diversity nascar needs it

  6. probably back to open wheel.

  7. NNS or home to Ashley.

  8. Indycar.

  9. Hopefully home

  10. I am really hoping he will get back into an open-wheel car, but he said that he wants to stay in NASCAR for now.  Andretti Green Racing has said that if Dario wanted to race in their ALMS car, then they would consider it.  It would be awesome if he came back to IndyCar, but I'm not sure he's gonna be willing to do that because he has already acomplished so much in the IRL (won the Indy 500 and the championship).  We'll see, but I think he's hoping to stay in NASCAR for a while.

  11. i dont know but he should go back to irl since he is the defending champ

i dont think cup since he was not racing much from dnq and dnf

  12. He is going to run in all the Nationwide races (it'll always be Busch Races) for the rest of 2008, unless they find (or himself) a sponsor. If not, nothing after 2008.

He won't be the last. #28 I'd expect to be next (unsponsored).

  13. I'm sure he's pretty much asking himself that as well.

  14. I think he should look for full time Nationwide car, because he's not that good in Sprint Cup,and would help him inprove, and it's sad for Chip Gannasi to keep struggling like that, they better get a good FA and some new sponsors, FAST!

  15. home

  16. I see two possibilities; lower NASCAR series or back to IRL.

  17. ALMS or Grand AM

  18. He should go back to IRL. I do like him he seems like a very nice guy. However, stock car racing is not for everyone and he is best suited in IRL.

  19. If Ganassi does not let him out of his contract, maybe Ganassi would put him back in an Indycar or maybe do some sports car racing. It's very odd to me that both Penske and Ganassi are at the top of the game in open wheel and almost everything else, but struggle in stock car racing.

  20. I think first and foremost, is that he will go back home to his wife (well at least thats what I would do if my wife was Ashely Judd).

After that, I think he will race in some Nationwide races.

  21. Nationwide. He definetly wont be in sprint cup this year or next.
