The way we've performed today - and with loads of specialist events to come - 3rd place seems a realistic goal. I'm more than happy to admit my pessimism was unfounded before the Games. Rebecca Adlington is a true champion.

In my opinion where they finish in the table is irrelevant. What I think is important is that they're almost certainly going to surpass the total of 13 golds they won in 2000 which will make it the most succesful games for decades. Their total dominance in the velodrome justifies the money that has been spent in setting up the national cycling centre in Manchester.
