We went on saturday and there was a lot but im sure that there are places where they can expect a higher density.... if anyone knows please let me kno...

Depends on where you live.  You could contact Fish & Game for your area.  Be aware there may be laws about catching (or trying to catch them).  Here in Calif. you must have a valid fishing license and there is a limit. Sometimes newspapers tell when the "grunion are running".  You could try to do a yahoo search with your zip code and the words grunion run you may get info. that way.  Good luck & have fun!
