  1. alexanda r,

You're in luck.  There are some ukulele clubs around your area.  http://www.ukuleleclubs.com/  If you attend one of their meetings I'm sure they'll be able to steer you to a store around the area....and you'll find playing with a group lots of fun.

If they can't help you check out http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigatio...  This site has great prices on ukuleles.  I'd suggest a Lanikai LU-21 or a 21C for my first uke.  Lanikai makes a good sounding ukulele for a decent price.  These also have gear tuners...like you see on a guitar.  Gear tuners will make tuning a lot easier.

And don't go CHEAP!  Some cheap ukuleles (-$30) will sound okay with the right strings and a little work.  But, unless you have help selecting, stringing, tuning, etc. it'll just be a waste of money.

    Have fun,

  2. Try local music shops or pound shops .  Music teachers have the best sources for thing like that.

  3. Hilo Hatties the Hawaiian store or look for Hawaiian stores in local malls. Good Luck!
