Scotland failed to score a try in their Six Nations opener against Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday. The onus was placed on Chris Paterson to kick the Scots to victory. It didn’t work.

Scotland lack the quality and players to score tries against the best teams in the Six Nations. It appears that there is an overreliance on kicking, as seen in Scotland’s defeat against France at the weekend. For all of Paterson’s quality, he cannot carry the nation to glory alone.
