Okay so I need a copy of my birth certificate. I was born in England and then I was adopted in New Jersey by a military man. I need to know how I would go about getting my proof of citizenship. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

  1. Usually the adoption paperwork is filed with the county court where you lived when the adoption was finalized.  So start with the courts. All that information is public info.  You just have to go in and ask for a copy of it.

  2. well first  when u get old anofe or already are  rais money or use ur money and fly to england  were ever you were born and talk to all the hospitiles in the area and  city hall there you go

  3. If you were born in England you can have your Birth records.  Information here:

    http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/adopti...

New Jersey is on the verge of passing a Bill that will allow adult Adoptees access to their own records.

  4. By the adoption order that your father should have somewhere, it should be on there that a new birth certificate should have been issued at the time of your adoption, providing it was in the United States.  Do you have a social security number?  Does the school you went to have any information about your identification?  You might talk with someone at the department of vital statistics, where they handle the birth certificates, and ask if your birthday and name matches the birth certificates they have.  Good luck.
