My friend has a hat passed down from his family that is said to be ab lincolns. He contacted Christys but they said they don't deal with that type of item. Where should we go to get it authenticated and maybe sell it at an auction. Sotheby's? Antique roadshow? Any suggestions?

  1. I doubt that its an original that belonged to Lincoln

  2. The website for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum has a person.

Under the FAQ section, it refers to who to contact about Lincoln Artifacts and Aquisitions. This may mean things the Museum is looking to buy, but I'm not sure about appraisals for things that might be auctioned off or held in private collections.

Still, the man's name is Gary Stockton, Chief of Acquisitions at (217) 524-5939  or gary.stockton@illinois.gov
