A friend of mine recently passed away and thier family wanted a burial but could not afford it. Alternatively their family had them cremated but I was wondering if anyone knows any organisations that can sort out a full burial for my friend's ashes. Serious answers only please.

  1. UK answer.

First thing you need to do is locate the ashes. I was asked by an elderly lady to find out  the cost of the an internment of ashes for her late husband. Sadly when she went to the undertakers, there was a section that says "in the event of none specification of  disposal of cremated remains,  the crematoria will take it upon them selves to dispose of the remains of ............ in the "Garden of Rest" after a period of 42 days, she was too late they had already disposed of her husband.

Not all English cities have this rule so,  first thing you need to do is locate the ashes, for that you will need the exact date of death. Then enquire at the office at the cemetery/ crematorium about the availability and price of internment plots. You can get a vicar to say prayers and give a short reading at the graveside, or like a friend of mine did, they got the undertaker to say two prayers and read out some letters that were interred in the plot as well, along with a rose from each child. It cost £429:00 in total, for the plot and the headstone will be extra.

    Hope this helps.

Edit: listed below is the address for the crematorium that someone has already mentioned.

    South Tyneside Crematorium

    John Reid Road

    South Shields, NE34 9DT

    0191 4273190

  2. if you call a local undertaker they should take care of everything for you hope this helps

  3. I would start with the local funeral home, funeral parlor, undertaker, or whatever the term for this business is in the UK.

  4. The local Funeral Director will be able to provide you with information about locations, and costs, and will know all about the provision of a full traditional burial service.

Sorry to hear about the passing away.

  5. speak to a funeral home first to ask then maybe speak to the crematorium where your friend was cremated

  6. I understand that the person has been cremated, in which case if a church memorial service is wanted, just go and talk to the vicar or priest of a local church. If a church service isn't required, still go and ask at the local church office for advice,

advice is usually free, and you can probably cut out the "middle man" i.e. the Funeral Director, and keep the cost down. Good luck !

  7. if you live in newcastle then the only place i know that does burials for ashes is in south sheilds. its in john reid road. unfortunatly do not no the company name but its in john reid road in south shields i hope this helps. let me know how you get on X
