Where would be a good place to look for a nondegree, entry level job if interested in geology?

I live in CA and am beginning to attend college majoring in geology. I'm looking for a job where I can get involvement in the industry or something somewhat related, but don't know where to start looking. Any recommendations that could get me involved with geology (or the environment in general) would be appreciated.

Get a job at a local concrete plant, if there are still any left in California.
