Where would be a good place to visit for a classical music fan?

Can anyone recommmend somewhere there may be classical music history or a great/reknown orchestra performing, etc?

Definitely Vienna, and Salzburg in Austria.   I've not been to Salzburg, but Mozart is from there sooo I'm sure there are many things there to do/see music wise.

If you're looking in the states, make sure you go to Boston.  Of all the orchestras I've heard in the states, the Boston Symphony is just amazing.  We live in L.A. area and have been to L.A. Phil many times.
