I plan to start running a series of workshops on topics like "Grounding Clearing Protection", "intro to Dowsing" "Amulet making" "how to conduct paranormal investigations" etc.

Where do you think would be the best places to advertise these to reach those who would be interested in attending?

  1. Please do not go on Yahoo groups and advertise unless you first have the permission of the group owner or moderators. I closed most of my groups simply because the only people joining was people who did not want to spend money advertising and did not know how to do it so they just came on yahoo groups and promoted themselves. This in my opinion is very rude unless you ask first. I had one lady to do this and then tell me that having a Yahoo group was not the way to run a paranormal team, but it was good enough for her to come on my group and try to take over my investigations. We did just fine for five years then she took a weekend workshop and whamo was an instant "Professional". She now uses knowledge she got from my group and claims to have done all the work herself. Please don't do that.

I also get frustrated with people here on Y/A promoting their team. It is one thing to  answer questions and post a link to your website, but entirely a different matter to post questions like Hey, I am starting a paranormal investigating team, anyone interested in joining, oh by they way I am not spamming.

I would not think anything about this but one pet peive of mine is Paranormal Teams use decieptive words like we are a "Professional Paranormal Research Society" of a number of combinations and claim to be scientist etc and in reality they are just ghost clubs that want to sound like something they are not. If you are a ghost club, just say so, there is nothing wrong with that.

My way of thinking is if these people are such professionals then they would not have to come here to promote themselves, they would be professional enough to do things the professional way.

Sorry this is a sore subjest with me. I have had way too many people use my theories and teachings as their own. But they claim to be professionals.

  2. Advertise your workshops on free classifieds, relevant forums and social networking websites. Monitor the response you get periodically to find out what works best. From http://ad5.info

  3. I agree, the local newspaper is the way to go.  Also consider posting fliers in local businesses (if they let you).

But be sure not to offer a money-back guarantee.  :)

  4. Try Fate Magazine  I believe they have a classified section and it reaches a lot of people in a huge area and the advertising last time I checked was not that expensive, of course use local methods also.

Look into the many organizations in your area that deals with these things.

  5. Hello

    Local papers & shops.

Or if you & your courses are online, the google ads or website.

    Good luck x

  6. Your local newspaper with the highest circulation on a weekend.  Free papers that sell things which arrive free at people's homes.

Flyers that are put on walls of related places.

  7. Hi Reiki Chick,

Considering that all that may be interested in attending will not be found in your own hometown and the fact that many would travel to attend a workshop, I would very highly suggest taking advantage of one of the fastest growing media exposure facilities in the world, and that would be none other than: " You Tube. "  I think the latest figures suggest they show over sixty million videos a day. How's that for exposure?

Or consider doing some advertising on the internet.

Create some videos on your chosen subjects to create interest and advertise your web site for more details and such.

Not only will you be addressing the seasoned veterans who are always into a good workshop, you will also be inviting those who find an interest in what you advertise.

To my knowledge there is no cost to upload a video and the price doesn't get any better than that.

I personally have a business venture I intend to launch via You Tube.

I would wish you good luck, but I have a feeling Reiki Chick creates her own good luck so with that in mind, may I instead wish you success in your new intended endeavor and may the force be with you always.

    NOTE:

Reiki Chick, you do not have to apologize to anyone for anything. Your question was innocent in asking for advertising sources. Your last two questions were inquiring as to favority trade and workshop magazines.

In my opinion, Wiccan Rider owes you an apology for assuming a lot about your intentions and making accusing statements. Sounds like he has an axe to grind, and you came along.

    Sincerely,

    Darryl S. ( StingRay)
