I'd personally suggest just sticking around in Toronto, since the shopping is pretty good here. But if you want to travel, try going to Montreal. Many of the stores are the same, but it's a bit of a break from the same malls/streets that you see here.

With the price of gas today and the amount of time you will spend at the border crossing, is it really worth an eight-hour drive to a US city for back to school shopping?

Toronto is a big city and you should be able to find some pretty good deals on school supplies from places like Staples, Walmart, Zellers, Business Depot, or other local stores.

However, if you are looking to go to some sort of factory outlet mall in USA for clothing, I would recommend going to the closest one to save on travel time and fuel costs. There is a pretty big one in Niagara Falls, NY. See the link below.

Honestly you will spend 50 bucks on gas each way. So you might as well buy 50 bucks more clothing or whatever you want in Toronto itself.

pensilvania has really great shopping and tax free... id go there! lots of great outlets there too!!
