I'm going into the Air Force as a cryptologic linguist. I know that the language you're assigned to is based on your DLAB scores and what the AF needs yada yada yada. So, no smart comments, please. If I do land the language I want, which is Korean, where are a couple of places I'd most likely be stationed?

I'm asking 'cause my dad was in the army and he said most linguists in the army were stationed according to their language. For example, German linguists were stationed in Alaska, or French linguists were in Texas, and Arabic linguists were at the neighbor's house...you get the point. I don't know if that's really where they are, I just want to know where are a couple places would I most likely be IF AND ONLY IF I were a Korean linguist.

  5. I think you might have been better asking the 'School House' where you will be trained. We can't tell here if you said everything is so random. Everything is subject to change...military and civilian life. I mean logically if speak Korean, you SHOULD go to Korea, but I have friends in 1st SF Group who speak Tagalog, Korean, Chinese, etc, and they are in Iraq with crash courses in Arabic. That's where the war and focus is. Things were probably different in your dad's day right?

I was in a MI Battalion and most of linquists in Germany spoke everything but German or even a European language. They just happened to get sent to or wanted Europe. Guess what? They adjusted 'fire' to Germany and learned some d**n German or Serbo-Croatian and Russian (this was in the mid-90s). Heck, so did us LRS infantry guys lol.

Anyway, ask the instructors when you cross that bridge...

Good luck and Step into the Blue!
