dirt for sale? i need to level off my backyard and have no clue where i could find dirt to have dumped in my yard.

Call your local home center or nursery.  Many landscaping companies in your area also provide that service.  

Also, depending on the quality you're looking for, see if there is a new development (residential houses, etc) close by.  Often there are large dirt mounds in these areas with "dirt for sale" or "free dirt" signs... you might get lucky.

Another tip would be to check out the want ads or craigslist, sometimes people will put ads on there saying fee dirt.
