10 ANSWERS

  1. Animal shelter

  2. I volunteer at the local hospital, and we use teenagers in a lot of areas in the hospital.  Check your local medical resources, and see what is available for you.

Libraries are very good, if you like books and reading. The only problem with that is that you may want to read every book you handle.  But it is a great job, with less stress than some other areas of choice.

If you enjoy being around the elderly, nursing homes always need someone to comfort and care for someone who has no visitors. You can be someone very important to just one elderly, lonely person.

The best way to find out where you could volunteer is to know yourself. What career field would you pursue, even if the money wasn't the greatest? What is your greatest passion?

If you think you would like to be a veterinarian after graduation, then call your local pet hospital or pet store and see  if that really fits your future goals.  This is an excellent time for you to "taste everything on the buffet table of careers",  and you may find that you aren't as good at, or as interested in, something that looked appealing before.

Good luck and have a happy future.

  3. Homeless shelter, Aids Children shelter, Homeless feeding program,...etc the world needs good people like you

  4. You could consider volunteering at a local shelter, nursing home, YMCA, or hospital. There are so many people out there who just want someone to talk to, and a visit from you could be just what the doctor ordered. Many blessings to you for wanting to do volunteer work! I think that's wonderful!

  5. Its great to help out your community!

The nursing homes are always needing help, and the senior citizens adore young people.

If you like kids, there are always camps that you can help out in, as a "counselor in training", as I don't think you can become a full-time counselor, being 17.

You can also help in hospitals, whether it be with reading stories to sick children or bringing in the food trays to people.

I'm sure they're lots of other ways for you to help your community, too. I'd also suggest looking at local bullitons and checking the internet.

  6. Go with what your heart is where you may have a desire to help out those in need,if you gp with your heart it would be more fullfilling to you.

  7. The best place for you depends on what your interests and skills are.   What careeer do you think you would like most?   Is there a anything even remotely related to that that you could do as a volunteer.  It is fairly obvious that if you want any career connected to medicine or social work you might like to volunteer at a hospital or nursing home and that of you want to work with anmals in any way an animal shelter especially a no kill shelter would be a good place.   It may be less obvious that if you want to teach the library, a camp or summer rec program, or a family shelter might be a good place or that someone into information science or computers might be a good match to help many nonprofits in the office or with date situations.   If art or writing are your strengths look for something where you can use and develop those skills, similarly if sports or outdoor things are your "thing".   If you like being around people look for some "front line" things where you will have that interaction.  If you'd rather be behind the scenes say helping clean up after an activity or stock shelves in a food ministry there are many jobs like that that need volunteers.  Similarly you know if you would probably be happier working with a group of volunteers or just one other person or just you and the agency or ministry staff or pretty much solo.

Think about the things you don't want too.  For example I love anmals but it would be hard for me to work in anything but a no kill shelter because it would be too heartbreaking to me when a precious kitty or pup had to be killed because no one wanted them.   I like computers and net but I would absolutely hate doing hours of data entry.   The place(s) you volunteer need to be ones that you believe are ethical, that do not advocate things you think are wrong, and while we all do some things we don't like doing the majority of your work should not be things you dislike.

Beyond that the best place is probably a local nonprofit or local affiliate of a larger one that considers volunteers an asset not just ppl who happen to be there.   Your local United Way can probably help you find a volunteer placement bureau in your area.  They can help you match your skills and goals with places in the community that need volunteers and give you a pretty good idea of what any place would be like.

I'm glad you want to do volunteer work.   I think it will be a blessing to you as well as those you help.   I hope some of these ideas will help you find thiongs to do that will be fun for you and help you grow in things that are important to you.

  8. hospitals, day cares, elder homes, salvation army's, homeless shelters, mission trips.

  9. Libraries, hospitals, senior homes.  Better sign up for hospitals early though.

  10. You might think about your local senior center.

    or

I've volunteered for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It's a great organization that brings joy and hope to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
