If there were no philosophy, we would all be robots with no imagination. We all have ideas, many being different. Without "why", or "how", there would be no real meaning in life. We are all here to try to figure out why we are here. I hope this is what you are looking for.

To answer the question, you must first define what Philosophy is.

It is interesting to note that PHD, the degree, is a Doctor of Philosophy. In the philosophically arena falls Philosophy of: science, art, aesthetics, psychology, metaphysics, numbers, mathematics, logic, language, the mind, and lots of other subjects.

So, what is philosophy: It is the study of the fundamentals of a field of interest. Philosophy looks at what are the most basic underpinnings of a field of study upon which all knowledge of the field is based.

For many of us, the ordinary empirical world works well and we do not need to know things, like the difference between Newtonian physics and Einstienian physics. But to philosophers the differrences are critical.

that's impossible... without philosophy there is no science (then no technology) no reason (then no purpose) no everything! nobody will dare to think, because once they think, philosophy appears. if nobody wil think, then nobody will live, (because they wont think if they need to live or eat or whatever thoughts they could have)
