We are going to move to Australia sometime and I was wondering, where would you reccomend moving to in Australia? I'm looking for a place that's not too cold, windy, wet or extremely hot.

Pls help, i need possible ideas of where i would be most comfortable and at home in Australia.

  1. i think perth, western australia.  its the biggest state, with many places to see. its a small city, with many suburbs. crime is low, and every aspect of weather u describe comes in moderation, but not too much of it.  its not very cold at all in winter, and it rains ocassionaly (as it does in winter).  in summer it does get hot, but not unbearbale. if u have airconditioning, ur good.  its a good family setting-low crime rate, good, affordable school and facilities and is gauranteed to stay that way for the coming years. unlike sydney or melbourne, it is uncrowded and maintains the same atmosphere with many restaurnats and night clubs etc in the city centre.  its the place to be.

  2. I would recommend that you land in Sydney first. Employment opportunities wise it has the maximum scope and has a moderate climate most of the year. You can always relocate from Sydney to any other city later without any hassel.

  3. well you are suppose to travel to not feel like home, if you want to feel like home, then stay at home....

But if you really want to get out there and enjoy Australia, you have to forget about everything and just have fun, forget about too hot, too cold, too windy (WINDY???)

Check out Whitsunday, Fraser Island, Sydney... further up north there is the rainforest, but that may be too hot for you to handle.. or too wet.. forget about the NT, b/c thats just way too hot for you in the day and way too cold at night.

But i would say, just stay home since you want to be comfortable.

  4. It really depends on who you are.  If you have a family with young children then you may not want to live in one of our big cities like Sydney.

Australia is a large and complex place when it comes to temperatures.  Queensland is beautiful and well known for it's beaches and friendly relaxed atmosphere - North Queensland gets very humid in summer and is tropical so lots of rain (but extremely beautiful)  Southern Queensland is also beautiful but doesn't get as hot (can still reach 40C in summer)  Brisbane is the city - South by 1 hour is the Gold Coast one of the most popular places (young with lots of night life) and south by one hour is the Sunshine Coast which has alot of things to do but has more of a lazy family beach feel to it.

NT is very hot - most of the year.

Western Australia is also very beautiful and takes almost half of the west side of Australia.  So again it would depend on if you went north or south to what sort of temperatures you would get.  Perth is the main city and is very beautiful.

NSW is also big and has a huge range of different places from our most well known city Sydney - which has very moderate temperatures to huge out back farming areas - which can get snow in winter.

Victoria has most of our snow fields so can get cold.  But is also beautiful.

Basically the higher north you go the warmer you get - so stay in the middle somewhere.

All of Australia is inviting and comfortable and you will probably feel at home no matter where you settle cause Australian people will make you feel welcome.

I hope that helps abit :)

  5. sydney has a very veryyy mild climate at the average summer high being 79ºF/26ºC  and the average summer low being 66ºF/18ºC  and the average winter low is

47ºF/ 8ºC and the average winter high is 62ºF/ 16ºC

if you want to check other cities weather temperatures go to weather.com type in just a city   but don't put a comma and the country   just put the city then when it shows up, click   averages and records under the name of the city (its in bold).     hope I could help!   mostly all the parts of australia that people live in are mild, as long as you don't move to the outback or the rainforest. you'll be fine.

  6. Anywhere in Australia is good but I am biased towards Queensland as it is my home. Seeing your an animal lover you can't go past the world famous Australia Zoo on the sunshine coast in Queensland.

What you have to consider is how are you planning to get here, e.g. what visa will you apply for? There are restrictions placed on visas which determine where you are able to live as the government is encouraging migrants to live in country centres to ease city congestion, so you will have to do your homework. Have a look at the immigration department website for the types of visas:

  7. What is too Hot ?

Be aware that temperatures can vary even in the same "general" area.

I moved from one part of Sydney, to a specific area in Brisbane, and found the summers up here were cooler than in that part of Sydney (Yes, I did say cooler)

Inland is often hotter in Summer and colder in winter.  I like living near the waters edge, as the temperature is much better, not too hot or cold.
