  1. If you like the ocean, the Outer Banks of North Carolina is very beautiful.  I have lived here my whole life.  If you have any questions let me know I would be happy to answer them.  Try  visiting the following websites for great info.

  3. Depends on what you like...

    Cold or Hot?

    Alaska or Hawaii?

or maybe France or Italy or New Zealand

  4. Well, i always see a lot of tourists here, so Palm Springs. It's very warm!

  5. It depends on what type of trip you're looking for, how much money you can spend, etc.

    Here are my thoughts:

Uruguay - It's small, in South America, affordable (except for the flight), has a European attitude, and is very friendly. Generally it is not visited by many North Americans so people will be excited to meet you and chat you up. English is pretty widely spoken but it's still easy to get around even if you only know Si and No. There are some amazing beach towns like Punta del Este and Piriapolis, great urban experiences like Montevideo, and historic places like Colonia. You can also visit huge cattle ranches and it's an easy trip to Buenos Aires or southern Brazil. However Uruguay is generally very friendly, lower crime, and easier to manuever. If you go, remember the southern hemisphere's seasons are opposite of the north's - their winter is a cheaper time to visit but it's grey, cool (45-50) and a bit like London it can be dreary.

Nicaragua - It has an interesting and checkered history but is relatively safe now. Again, there is a ton of variety in one country. Managua, the capital, is pretty dense and can be a bit grimey but offers interesting shopping and cultural activities - the Peace Park is amazing and built with retired weapons. There are smaller towns on the beach, in the mountain/volcanic areas (I even got to swim in a lake in the crater of a volcano - amazing views), adventure travels, etc. The eastern, Atlantic coast has unique small towns that are predominantly indigenous or Afro-Caribbean. They are very low-key, open, and inexpensive.

If you want something in the United States I would recommend Minneapolis/St. Paul. It's great if you like theater, music, and nightlife. There is also a huge arts community that includes modern, historic, and sculptural gardens. Both cities have up and coming gourmet restaurant scenes that aren't to be missed. If you need something a little less experimental there is the Mall of America, but really it's just like combining every mall you've been to into one space. Don't let the winter scare you, there are tons of winter time activities, both indoors and out to enjoy.
