Movies is better.  The mall can sometimes be boring.  Also, going to a movie gives you an excuse to talk.  Find out what kind of movie s/he would like to see.

if its a first date, def try going out in public so he or she doesnt feel pressured to do anything they dont want to...you know like you would in a movie. you get to know them better. movies is a better date after you get to know a person. try going out to eat, maybe go bowling or putt putt golfing, ice skating (this ones perfect!!) or to a concert?

Just do something without money or people...like have a picnic at a park...
