My God, has the world gone mad? Those people are there to be punished, not to be given 'thrill of a lifetime' experiences my nan would love to go ballooning but on her meeger pension can barely afford to heat her home yet these criminal scum are treated like royalty its disgusting

I believe they also get TVs in their cells. My grandpa has always fancied having a TV ever since he went to a bar in Singapore. Why should only prisoners get these delights? Life isn't fair sometimes.

Not at all shocked but we certainly cannot afford it.  Contact the Howard League for Penal Reform to get some better ideas.  Ben Jonson was burned on the hand for stealing, Shakespeare was punished for poaching, etc - somebody has suggested that other punishments should be put in place, instead of prison.  So, a rapist would be branded with a huge letter R on his forehead, for example ... He wouldn't necessarily have to go to prison, because everybody would know what his crime was, and they would steer very clear of him ...
