  1. Nope, not at all....contrary to what many Bombers fans may think, you are in a rebuilding phase like Hawthorn was a few years back. New coach, rookies coming through, thrashing after thrashing.

  2. Yes I am very surprised. I was watching until I had to go out just after half time. They were hanging in at that point so I didn't see what happened over most of the second half. I can only assume that they pretty much lost heart and gave up. Even Kenealy or whatever his name is being benched and Hall being out wasn't any help to the Bombers.

Injuries to players over the third and fourth rounds has been detramental to the club, especially the loss of players like Lucas McVeigh and Davey.

The poor performances by those on ground are probably more mental than physical. It will take a lot for them to boost their morale because they have got a lot of young inexperienced players (many under 15 games) and quite a few injured ones still to return.

What an unfortunate start to the season they have had!

  3. Essendon did start the Season off well but then got hit by injuries, it doesn't surprise me too much. Sydney has a knack for being able to stop other teams scoring big totals. If Essendon had of been able to break the way Sydney played then maybe the scoreline would have been different

  4. i was not surprised that they lost but i was by the margin.

  5. I was a little surprised that Sydney could kick such a big score, i though it was going to be close after watching the first quarter. Essendon have alot of work to do.

  6. The only surprise was it was Sydney who done it, they only played one quarter of attacking, run on footy, then shut the game down.

Look the bombers, with all the new kids playing are going to be up and down, kids play that way, inconsistent, nothing you can do about it, they will win a few more games, could be this week against the tigers, you never know with young sides, we are very much in the same boat, up and down, but seem to be playing better these days, without actually winning games.

Essendon will do the same as Richmond, next year  they should start to play more consistent footy, not getting flogged by the better sides.

  7. No. I wasn't surprised.

I think they are going to end up down there with melbourne. Yhey haven't picked up any top-notch players to boost them from last year. They are trying to rebuild with young blokes - from the coach upwards.

  8. um, they did start the season off really well but now they have lost all confidence in themselves. these past couple weeks they have been thrashed- by the Pies as well as the Swans. i think they are still getting used to not having Sheeds there anymore but they need to hurry up and figure out what they are doing. if they dont then they could be the wooden spooners this year. Melbourne might have to wait its turn again. hopefully they do alrite against the Tiges. dnt know who ill barrack for coz i like both teams but yea hopefully they do alrite.

  9. No, not surprising - they are a very young team, which means ability and speed but not the stamina and steadfastness that you get with players like Collingwood's Burns or Geelong's Ling. All the Essendon adults who matter are either injured or playing below their peak.

When these Bomber kids get match hardened they will be able to play out four quarters, meanwhile they did well for three and that is a good sign - they are not losing heart, just energy.

Keep the faith, brother, Essendon will rise again.

  10. I wasnt really suprised to be honest (sorry!!).  Especially after the thrashing Collingwood gave them.

They did start ok, but I think they lack confidence and have a shortage of really powerful players.

Hopefully they can re-group and improve this year :))
