Where your from do people say "pop" instead of "soda"???

when i used to live in springfield, mo everyone would say pop or soda pop when wanting a soft drink. but now i live in south texas and i don't hear that anymore.........now people call me Ma' when all the time, and its very common here, but it didnt happen where i used to live.

  2. way up north in general people say pop. i used to live in Michagan and people said pop.

  3. I live in Southwest Missouri, and we always called it "pop".  My brother started calling it "soda" and, though he hasn't said it, he doesn't appear to like the word "pop" anymore (nor me saying it).

    My problem with "soda":  there is no "soda" in it.  Soda is sodium bicarbonate, and that isn't present in the drink.

  4. I'm in the Northeast, and here they always say "soda." When I was visiting in the Midwest, they always said "Pop."

    I've lived in North Carolina all my life and people call it coke or soda here.

    Or pepsi.  Pepsi originated in New Bern, NC and there are lots of pepsi fans here.

  9. there are different dialects throughout the world and especially the US.

    mexicans don't exactly speak the same way people in spain do.  

    i say pop.  mostly everybody does in the midwest.

  10. I am from chicago and we call it pop. Just like tennis shoes are called gym shoes! I have relatives in el paso, tx and they say coke...but it's for every flavor...so what kind of coke do you want? When I order food here in chi it's always what pop do you want....oooo you guys get the point!!!

  12. Pop in Kansas.  I think Kansas and Missouri are unusual in that.

  15. I'm in the south and we say soda where I live. I have some relatives who live in Chicago, and when they came down here to visit I noticed that they said pop.

  16. I'm from Canada so I say "pop". Live in Calif now and everyone says "soda". I still say pop. I refuse to conform.

  17. Im from Dallas, Tx, and was born in Mcallen, tx. I dont know about anyone else, but Ive been calling it either sodapop or sody pop, for the longest time. That's just my thing i guess. I think any real big fan of  "The Outsiders" calls it sodapop as well.

  21. Where I live most of the people ask for a coke.  Not soda and never pop.  I am near Houston, TX.

  24. I say pop and i live in la coste tx near san antonio. i am from michigan and people that are from there and eastern u.s. say it that way does not make sense to say soda  to me.
