  1. It depends on where abouts in London are you.  TGI's are always a good bet.  They are reasonably priced and you get huge portions.  They are all over London.  There is a nice one just off of Leicester Square.

Have a nice evening wherever you decide to go.

  2. There is a restaurant of the Strand called Bistro - has a green sign saying Bistro outside. Not sure of the street but I think it is Southampton Street. Really good food - british & french for around £5-10 for a 3 course meal. Good quality and lots of it. Popular for theatre goers so make sure you go. Highly recommended.

  3. go to fish and chip

  4. There's an 'all you can eat' Chinese called Mr Wu's on the road off the south side of Leicester Square - I think its called Argyle St - that runs between the Square itself and Charing X Road.

It used to be about a fiver - fairly standard fare, but its ok, and you won't go hungry.

  5. La Porchetta in Islington, Muswell Hill or Finsbury Park

  6. Cheap, good food - define cheap?

Belgos in Covent Garden - they have a beat the clock from 5.30 - 6.30, where you pay the price of the time you order for a list of stuff (mussels or bangers and mash)  Comes with a free beer or soft drink.

Japanese - Zipangu on Little Newport Street gives you a decent 4 course meal for 10 pounds with miso soup, teriyaki with rice, salad, tofu, and sushi.

Ed's Diner - still gives you a good burger (proper one - not some macdonalds or burger king c**p) for 5.55.  If that doesn't fill you up, I don't know what will.  Located off of Charing Cross Road near Upper St. Martin's Lane.

Nando's in Covent Garden - chicken and chips - 7 quid each with free refills on coke.

  7. Eat as much as you can vegetarian Indian Restaurant on Chapel Market, Islington

    Near Angel tube.

I am a confirmed carnivore but still love this place - if you want to pig out and be healthy and spend virtually nothing (£3 I think) that's the best place in London by far!
