Wheres good to go on holiday near australia?

Im really skint,dont have a lot of money but wanna go somewhere cheap and cheerful for a week, beginning of september. Im travelling on my own so i want some where friendly and hot with a beach. Thats good for nightlife but also if you want time out relaxing on your own. So wheres good to go?

If u are looking in australia then sydney is best where u can see many beaches like bondi, manly  and u can also thin about goaldcoast but thinking out of australia the i guess fiji or newzealand will be better.
