The US treasury sent out $300to people as part of an economic stimulation plan. Right?

Well at the time i was 17 years old, and my parents didn't get "my" $300 dependency bonus...

Since i was transparently not classified as a dependent nor as an adult, do i not get it?

is there anything i can do?

  1. chuck norris took yours too?

  2. If you were 17, chances are your parents claimed you last year.

    1)  Dependents don't qualify for the rebate themselves.

    2)  Dependents 17 or over don't qualify their parents for the extra $300.00.

  3. Go to IRS.com. You only get it if you have a job and work a certain number of hours. Not because you are just a non dependent. You have to have mad at least 3,000 in 2007 i think

  4. Your parents will not get the $300.  You had to be "under 17 as of December 31, 2007" to qualify as a child.  So if you turned 17 anytime during 2007, which it sounds like, then you don't qualify to be a dependent for your parents to receive the $300.

Did you make more than $3000 and file taxes for 2007?  If not, then you won't receive the stimulus payment for yourself either.  If you made more than $3000, you still have time to file your taxes and receive the stimulus payment.  You have until October 15, 2008.  However, you'll probably have a penalty for filing after the tax deadline of April 15.  Also, keep in mind that it is not guaranteed that you would receive the payment of up to $600.  That amount is based on how much tax you were liable for paying in 2007.  If you were liable for less than $600, then that's the amount you would receive.  If you were liable for more than $600  then you'd only receive the $600.
