  1. If you're only going to be in Dublin for a weekend, then you can't go wrong with Temple Bar.  It's right in the centre of the city - just across from the Liffey and you can have a great night out around there.

The airport is quite a distance from the city centre. Probably the best thing to do, would be to stay somewhere like Drumcondra.  It's pretty much in between the airport and the city centre and there are loads of B & B's where you can stay in that area.  It's really easy to get to the city centre from Drumcondra, it's only about ten minutes on a bus or in a taxi and it's a good place to stay.  If you're heading for Temple Bar from Drumcondra, then Temple Bar is literally just across the river on the south side of the city.

Edit.  It would probably be easiest to book somewhere to stay in advance, then when you get to Dublin you wouldn't have to go searching for somewhere. The B&Bs usually just take your credit card number in case you don't turn up but they don't take any money from it and you can pay the lot in cash when you get there if you prefer.

If you have a look at this link: http://www.dublintourist.com/directory/a...

there's a list of B&B's in Drumcondra - any of the ones along Griffith Avenue or Upper Drumcondra Road would probably be the handiest because they're main roads and it would be easy to get a bus into the city from there.  If you're getting a bus from the airport, I think it's the 16A that goes through Drumcondra - but they tend to be so crowded you might prefer to just get a taxi.

This is just from personal experience that I found Drumcondra to be a convenient place to stay but I'm sure there are loads of other places around that area in between the airport and the city that would be good too, it's just that I've stayed in Drumcondra myself and I thought it was fine.

Hope you enjoy your weekend x

  2. The Old Wesley Disco is a grand spot!

Sher if you're going to Drumcondra, Bertie might put you up for a couple of nights. Just tell him Podge and Rodge sent you......

  3. I suggest booking somewhere in advance, try www.hostelworld.com. They do all kinds of accommodation.
