Wheres the best place to go solo this december to Germany?

I'm thinking of going solo to Germany this December. Any ideas on places to go and stay that is cheap, able to meet new people and ideal for solo student travelers for about 1 week?

In winter you schould go to south germany because you can easiely to the mountains an you will have snow

I definately think that you should go to Munich.  The south of Germany is very nice in the winter.

My tip:  start out in Munich (Christmas market bonus) at the hostel and take a trip to Austria (approx. 2 hours by car/bus).  There are lots of ski areas which cater to a partying crowd (St Anton for example), which will certainly help you find some friends for the week.

Contrary to Maverick, I'd suggest you try Berlin, Germany's capital. (Alright, I know that Munich, Bavaria, is called "Germany's secret capital", but Berlin's much more fun.) Try a Google search about "backpacker Berlin" and you'll get some addresses of places to stay. I don't know your age, but it should be possible anyway. Give them a call; the international dialing code for Germany is +49, Berlin is 30, and then dial through. Mind the timeshift! (Skip the 0 before regional codes on German numbers, otherwise you may land up in the Caribbean, which, after all, wouldn't be all too bad.)

Go to Stuttgart, it has the Biggest Christmas Market in Europe. I hope you will enjoy it.

also depending on your budget it may be beneficial to travel on the train system and visit many places since you are solo.  It depends on your intrests as well.  What are you into?  Email me I can give you some advice.  I've lived in Germany since 2004 and get around quite a bit.

I would suggest hostels in Munchen (Munich).  It is one of the livliest cities in Germany and hostels are known as an inexpensive place to stay and usually has a younger crown staying at them.
